We are staying at the Greenleaf Guesthouse and I am telling you today about what insects I’ve seen here. I saw a lot of things this morning.

I saw a gecko. This gecko that I saw was very camouflaged and it took me a while to notice him/her.

I saw a massive millipede. It looked like it had more legs than every person in NZ.

I saw a green lantern fly on a tree and it looked like it had come from another dimension.

I saw a butterfly and I don’t have a photo but it looked like an autumn leaf.

I saw FISH!!!

I played with a taby cat and it was sitting in the garden fiddling with my peculiar feet.

We started at 3:00 for our half day tour to the bat cave and heaps of other places. We started at the hotel and drove to the springs. There were heaps of people there so we didn’t swim. Joe told us that we would come back soon so we carried on to the temple.

At the temple there was a flight of stairs going down in to a cave. We went down them and at the bottom Joe made me put out my hand and he put a tiny cave frog on it. He turned him upside down and stroked him on his under belly and he froze. He was playing dead and it was really cool but on we went into the other side of the cave.

There were alot of bats on the other side of the cave and at one point I got to hold a scorpion spider. A scorpion spider can’t bite but the centipede can. The centipede that I was holding was poisonous and it had so many legs it was crazy and myself and Dad went right to the back of the cave where bats were hanging and they were flying around us like they were magic. We had to go soon so we headed for the back entrance to the truck.

We went to the big bat cave now and sadly we weren’t allowed to go in to the bat cave or else the bats wouldn’t come out at night. Here are some photos of the bats coming out of their cave. The hawks and falcons catch some of the bats but there are about 2,000,000 bats that fly out of the cave every night so it doesn’t really make a difference.

Yesterday I woke up and I realised we were going on a full day tour. I was excited but we were going at 8:00 so I ate breakfast really fast and got on the truck.

We took off towards Khao Yai national park. On the way to the park I met a photographer on the truck, she was cool. Her name was Nora. We stopped on a corner up in the park and saw a huge Hornbill. Hornbills are tropical birds. (hornbills are the kings of  the tropical forest). Then we were going up the hill in the truck to the lookout to look over Pak Chong and when we got there 2 monkeys were crossing the road. Myself, Dad and Helen went down to have a look at the monkeys while the other pepole went to look out over the town. The monkeys had a red behind and brown face of tough fur and their species are called pig tailed macaques.

After looking for a while we saw one in the tree beside us and then we went back to the truck to put on our socks. (socks are white socks that go up to just under your knee to protect people from leechs and ticks). Ticks bury themselves in your skin and leechs dig their teeth in your skin and suck your blood. You have to burn them off with a lighter. Luckily I didn’t get any leechs but I did get a few ticks. I had to pull them off with my fingers.

After a 2 hour walk in the jungle we had lunch and got in the truck to go to Hew Suwat water fall. The water fall was really high. It was creepy when we went to the top and at the bottom of the water fall we took a photo of us all standing under the water fall on a rock.

Afterwards, we took the truck and went elephant sighting. I got to stand on the top of the truck, it felt like a computer game dodging the branches. Dad got hit in the face while he was telling me to look out for branches. It was fun up there but we didn’t find any wild elephants so we headed for home.

The jungle was misty and cool. I liked my day looking for animals and was really tired when we got home.

Yesterday we arrived in Ayatthaya and went to the RUINS. The ruins looked awesome when we were walking around the outskirts of them. When we were walking on the right side of the ruins we found an old tower built of bricks. It had a door way and when we were going in, Dad said “look out for snakes”. There weren’t any snakes but there were BATS!!!!!!!!!!! They looked so cool, hanging up side down. They were scared of us so we went to the left side of the ruins.

We went to the counter and paid to get into the actual ruins of Wat Mahathat. When we went in I kept on thinking that I would find a secret passage way that would lead me to a forgotten kings chamber or something like that. On the way around the ruins we saw a Buddha half overgrown by a huge tree. We took a photo of myself and Helen kneeling right beside it.

But my favourite part of the day was when we went to the biggest temple in Thailand, Wat Ratcha Burana and got to go inside and see were the actual king was buried. We went up a big flight of stairs and into the temple. On the wall it said that the king and his brother killed each other dueling on the backs of elephants for who would become king. The king got buried in the middle of the temple. We went down to were the king got buried but he wasn’t there. The walls of his tomb were painted red and were lined with paper thin gold. We stood inside his tomb and we all felt a strong sense of energy from inside the tomb. By the way, the temple is 3,982 years old!!!! The ruins were a highlight of the trip so far and I can’t wait until we see more.      We went back to our room and took off to dream land. In the morning we got a tuk-tuk to the train station and got on our train to Pak Chong and Khao Yai national park. Tomorrow we go into the park and look for wild animals. We were on the big bus at Mae Hong Son. Helen was waiting for us to get back with our icecreams so we could cool down before the 15 hour bus ride. I also got a juice and it was yum. But when we got half way thorough our trip I needed to pee but I didn’t know that there was a loo on the bus. So it was lucky that we had a quick stop before nightfall. At that stop I went for the FOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!! I didn’t have much but I did have noodles and waffles. Then we were off again.

On the way I wached 22 jump street in Thailandese while relaxing in my 150 degree chair. After the first stop on the bus we got a snack box, a coffee in juice box and a water bottle shaped like a wine bottle. In the snack box were chocolates. Yum… chocolate!!! I ate them all and then went to sleep.

I woke up in the morning and we were in Bangkok. The bus stopped, we got out and got a taxi to the Indian embassy. I had to wait outside with our bags. Most of the time I was on my IPOD playing minecraft. When Dad and Helen came out of the room on the 22 floor in a huge sky scraper we took a taxi back. She drove around in circles so we would pay her more money.

We finally got back to the bus station. In perfect timing because a bus left in five minutes to Ayutthaya. So on the way to our next desination I tried to sleep but I didn’t succeed. My Dad said it would be 1hour but It felt to me like in was 1 minute.

So we got to Ayutthaya and asked the guy at the cafe if we could use his wifi to find a guest house. He said yes. We couldn’t find a guest house online so we asked him and he said a couple blocks down there were alot of guest houses. So we went down to where he told us to go. We found a place called Tonys’ Place and settled there. It had a pool and a bar. I played in the pool with some french kids and it was fun.

That night there was a Chinese fair. We went and just as we arrived a big paper dragon go hoisted up by people on a big bit of bamboo and right beside them was a big bamboo stick with a person on top. He had guts -)   On we went through the market.

 

I saw some remote control racing cars on a board with plastic walls. I had a go and it was fun. After we went and ate then I went and did it again. We went home after that and went to bed.:-) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 THE END:-) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

🙂 We have arrived at Mae Hong Son.

I walked out of the bus, stretched and turned until my back felt better and then I waited for Dad and Helen to cruise off to find a GH ( a GH stands for Guest House). On the way to the GH we passed a lake full of fish and right beside it was a temple. It was white and gold and it looked amazing. There are heaps of temples in Thailand!!!!

First we went to baan mai guesthouse. The owner Jo was awesome and kind. She fed us an amazing breakfast of fruit, toast and jam, coffee and hot chocolate. Her cat was SUPER CAT!!!!! We enjoyed being there but we decided we would move on the next day. BAAM!!!! We found Johnnies-Guest House right on the lake. Super price and super people. We’re going to stay here for a couple days and we have the NIGHT MARKET!!! 2 min walk away from home. We have been to the river to go swimming, went to the temple up on top of the hill to watch the sunset  and this morning we went to the local market and got noodles and a crepe. Mae Hong Son is a very calming town and has very friendly people.

I just wanted to tell you about some of the things that are coming up soon. Angkor Wat, Ayutthaya, learning to scuba dive and going to Ko Jum.

We woke up in the morning in our bungalo made of bamboo. I stretched and yawned. Then I packed my big blue bag because I knew we were going to Mae Hong Son.

We went down the road about 200m to a nice cafe to get breakfast. For my breakfast I had toast with butter and jam+banana’s. It was yüüüüm.

Then we went to the bus station to catch the bus to Mae Hong Son. We got to the bus station and Helen remembered she had left her tablet at the Cafe, so she dropped her bags at the bus station and went back to the Cafe to get her tablet. So me and Dad hung out at the bus station. We made friends with Popcorn, a stranger from near Mae Hong Son. He tried some tricks on us to get money. It didn’t work.

Helen came back from the Cafe. We met another pair of strangers but they were nice. Their names were Yaan and Jaia. They were going to a little town just before Mae Hong Son, so they were on the same bus as us.

We got on the bus and found our seats. We started off through Pai and up into the mountain side to Mae Hong Son. It was very slow but fun. Most of the way I was talking to Jaia. The mountains were shaped like legs and big mounds of ice cream. They looked Awesome. So on we putted very slowly up a hill and just made it over the top and then rolled down the other side. It was nice and FUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had one military check point and I got to see the big guns.

Then we were off again to the next pit stop. We had food at the next pit stop and I had a sausage and some mandarins and we were speeding off into the distance towards Mae Hong Son. We were 35 KM away from Mae Hong Son when Yaan and Jaia got off at the little town. I said bye to Yaan and said “I hope I see you again” to Jaia.Then off we went to our destination 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 THE END:-) 🙂 🙂 🙂
